The secret to successful spring cleaning…
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. -unknown
Here in south central Pennsylvania, spring has been grey and damp. But the flowers are blooming and when the sun appears, the days quickly warm up, so my energy for new projects is increasing!
Many of us subscribe to the tradition of spring cleaning; I know I am inspired to clean my house beyond my normal efforts to stay ahead of my dog’s shedding! But do you wonder where to begin?
I’ll let you in on a secret to a successful spring cleaning project:
Declutter first!

The secret to a successful deep cleaning project: Declutter first!
Gather bags or boxes for each of these categories: trash, recycling, donations, and things to sell.
Start small: one pantry shelf, under the bathroom sink, one dresser drawer, a toy box, etc.
Set a timer for 30 minutes.
Take everything out of the space.
Sort the items into the appropriate bags & boxes, putting aside the things you decide to keep.
Clean the area.
Put back all items you are keeping. Consider using baskets, bins or dividers for better organization.
Did you finish before the timer went off? If not, that’s okay! Give yourself a 5 minute break to get a drink or a snack, and then set the timer one more time.
At the end of your project, put the trash in the garbage can, the recycling in your recycle bin, the donations in your car to drop off at a local donation center, and make a plan for anything that you decided to sell.
And if you have other things you want or need to do with your time, make an appointment for our decluttering services!
